Remembrance Day is just around the corner and I’m working on a library display in honour of the Day. Do you ever wonder what life was, and is, like for soldiers of war? Have you read any wartime accounts? I recently read Unbroken, which is the biography of Louis Zamperini, an American Airman and Prisoner of War during WWII. Reading this true story was overwhelming at times; I cannot imagine having to endure what he did.  I highly recommend this story of resilience and redemption, but with this caveat: it’s not for the faint of heart.

Other excellent fiction and non-fictional accounts of the life of a soldier available in the LSS Library are:

Come by and check out these books (or any others!) any school day between 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Have a thoughtful and thankful Remembrance Day.
